A Massive History
Like most other pro wrestlers, I grew up watching wrestling on TV. My early influences were "Bad News Allen" Dynamite Kid, Hulk Hogan and The Road Warriors. In 1989 I even dressed up as Animal from The Legion Of Doom.
It wasn't until 1995 when a scam artist introduced me to the business that I got my first taste of professional wrestling. A few of my friends and I got together, bought a ring, got a building. That was the start of Hardcore Wrestling. We found a promoter and started running shows. It lasted about 1-½ years, egos got in the way and everyone went their own ways. It wasn't until about a year later that an acquaintance I had met at Hardcore Chi Chi Cruz would change my life and career.
In early 1997 I was fortunate enough to work on a couple of Indy shows with some WWF (E) up and coming talent including their trainer Leo Burke. Leo took an instant liking to me and invited me to Calgary to "finish" my training. Little did I know that my training was just beginning.
After training for several months in Calgary at Bret Harts house, Leo booked me for Atlantic Grand Prix wrestling. It was my first real test of actual wrestling. I had a blast, met some great people like Butcher Vachon, Joe E Legend, Kingman, Sunny 2 Rivers, Buddy Lane. I was reunited with my buddy Chi Chi Cruz. I started in the opener and worked my way up the card winning tag belts with "Da Butcher Mon Chum". I really thought that I belonged with that group. Despite some wicked injuries I never missed one match.
After my experience in Atlantic Grand Prix wrestling, (my first full time territory) I went back to Regina where my mother lives and within a week I had bookings in A.W.A., I.W.A. and Can-Am wrestling. I was very excited to be a big name in wrestling since I never had any video; I was relying on getting booked on my pictures alone. This is when I got a phone call from Tony Condello from I.W.A. wrestling based in Winnipeg. Chi Chi Cruz had put in a good word for me, and the next thing I knew was I booked on every show. When I first started wrestling for Tony, he still had TV and was brining in some big names, some of which I got to wrestle against. For a green guy being on the same card as legends like Bad New Allen, Champagne Gerry Morrow, Cuban Assassin, and Rick Martel was an honor. It gave me a chance to meet them personally and on a different level other than a "mark". As a matter of fact, News and Morrow had a very strong influence in my career. Gerry helped me get strong positions on the IWA cards against good veterans, which really helped me out. News helped me get booked with a couple of Indy promoters as well as giving me great advice and tips in the business. There were a few other guys on these cards who were very respectable and knowledgeable and helped me learn the business to. Edge, Christian, Test, Rhyno, Jerry Lynn and Syrus. I'm sure I'm missing some guys and I apologize to them. The truth is a lot of different guys had big impact on my career and I would like to thank them all. Especially Chi Chi Cruz and Wildman Gary Williams.
Back in Can-Am Gary Williams and I were tearing it up on a nightly basis. This was a result of the booker Beef Wellington, another huge influence on my career. He put us in a program together and we both grew immensely as wrestlers. Gary is one of those guys you just can't have a bad match with.
As well right around this time, Bret Hart hooked some of the boys up with WCW tryouts, myself, Gary, Mike McFly, Synn just to name a few. Thanks a lot Bret; I learned a ton from you. I remember once, while Bret had the WWF title, he wrestled 26 days straight came home and trained with us at his school in Calgary. What an amazing experience. Thanks again Bret!!!

Leatherface!

There is no one else in this business I have more respect and admiration for. I have seen this man eat wrestlers alive take some absolutely INSANE spots and basically get booked almost anywhere and make a good living. Very few pro-wrestlers can separate themselves from their gimmicks. This man can. We have had incredible daring, crazy, cutting edge hardcore matches, where two men know they have given it all they had from start to finish. You made me stronger, tougher and crazier then ever. It was a pleasure to feud with you and I can't wait to get my hand on you in front of all the great MPW fans in Edmonton and across Canada. Until next time---- WHAT DOESN'T KILL YA MAKES YA MORE INSANE!!

If I ever had to chose my best friend in my personal life or my career I would have to pick 2. Chi Chi Cruz took me under his wing so to speak after I was done training with Leo Burke. We were a great tag team but we had better matches against each other. He treated me like a brother and always looked out for me when he wasn't kicking my ass. I have sweat, bled, ate, traveled roomed and lived with this man as well as got stumbling, falling over debaucherized with him. Cheech you are amazing, as a friend, as well as a wrestler. You made a huge impact in my life, which I will never forget you for. Thank you so much for everything you have done for me, the best is yet to come… Oh yes Lets get all lit up again!!!!

Gary Williams and I lived together for 2 years - from Calgary to Moncton and back. We were all each other had. You lifted me up when I was down, you drove when I was hurt, and you refereed for the Butcher Mon Chum and me! Most of all you always gave me the up most respect, which I hope you know, is right back at ya. From working for OBO to carrying me up your Grandmas stairs in Moncton, you have always been there, no matter what. You and I will always be 2 brothers from different mothers, brother!!
You guys always made me feel like I belong in this business, I have worked with both of you many times and it has always been an absolute privilege and honor. You both are the eptimy of what I think a wrestler should be both in and out of the ring. If anybody had a chance to see either one of these guys' works I suggest you do, you won't be disappointed.

Since 1993, I had worked part time with a security company OBO. In early 2000, I moved to Saskatoon and worked with OBO as well as starting up an Indy Promotion with Crash Crimson. Called Pro Outlaw Wrestling. This was my first real school, developing a few very talented kids, Quicksilver, May Fiend, Biggie Phatz, and White Lightning. After working with some of these kids for a year, I felt I had a new calling in life. In April of 2001, I got booked with RAW (Real Action Wrestling) I worked there until Sept. 13for 3 ½ months, when I got back to Saskatoon, I decided it was time for another change, so off to Edmonton I went.
Edmonton Alberta is where I make my home, training the future stars of professional wrestling. From finishing Lethal Lou Gage and J.D. Michaels to training my current students Boris J, James Perry, Jason Waldner, not forgetting my Under 18's Brady Roberta, Bobby Sharp, Thomas Mac Donald, Big Jess and the toughest under 18 lady I have ever met Kayla Koetze. It's an amazing feeling to have a hand in "molding" a young potential future wrestler. I call them all "my kids" but nothing could be further from the truth. You are all dynamic human beings I have grown to love, Love you all, and it's been an honor and privilege to work and continue working with each and every one of you.
